A friend called (actually FACEBOOKED, is that a verb yet?) to say that another marriage had been sunk by the ugly talons of an affair...
Between headlines and my own social media, it seems like the reasons to NOT stay married far outweigh the reasons to stay...
And yet...
As a person who has weathered her fair share of storms, some emotional, and some quite literal (we were in New Orleans for Katrina)...
I would like to devote a big section of this blog to the joys of surviving this imperfect life, with our imperfect selves and our even less than perfect spouses...
which is NOT the same as saying that everyone should stay married...
It's just saying that the next twenty years just might be the best...
For instance,
There are no more diapers (for a few more years, until I start wearing one or stop going to see funny movies or sneezing)
In this twenty years, I can tell my husband to cut his nose hair, ear hair, and eye brows and maybe even knit them into something actually pleasant
The kids are growing up...that means we may stake a claim into weekends, Saturday nights and other time that was swallowed by soccer, clubs, car pooling, soccer, and all kinds of other kids activities...
What are you looking forward to in your next twenty?
